With the advent of more overseas, South Africa and Eastern Africa flights to Zanzibar INT Airport as well as direct flights from Zanzibar to Serengeti. It simply makes much more sense for travellers to make their travel plans to Tanzania even more meaningful by taking advantage of the convenience of experiencing the top three destinations of Tanzania (Serengeti, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar) in a week with more valuable preparation in regard to time efficiency, and better travel costs on international flights to Zanzibar. It is clear that flights originating and/or connecting from Ethiopia, South Africa, Europe, and the Middle East to Zanzibar INT Airport (ZNZ) have much better flight ticket offers thus allowing travellers to take advantage of arriving in Tanzania via Zanzibar INT Airport. We have designed a suitable safari program that is bound to help travellers stretch the value for their money when travelling to Tanzania and here below are some of the top highlights and activities included in the Best of Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Wandering Around Stone Town, Lunch at Rooftop Tea House & Spice Farm Tour

A morning guided walk around Stone Town is the perfect way to start your discovery of the Swahili Culture, Zanzibari lifestyle, Architectural heritage and tasting some coffee or spice chai (tea) with accompaniments in between. A mid-day stop at the revered Rooftop Tea House Restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy some stunning 3600 views of the scenic Stone Town as you wait for your delicious lunch meal to be prepared and served. And an afternoon Spice Farm Tour to the nearby Bububu area is the captivating highlight for any visitor to Zanzibar with an interest to discover where its special acronym “The Spice Island” originates from, and the thriving spice cultivation and processing happens, before returning to your beach resort for a relaxed evening.

Beach Relaxation, Quad Biking and Marine Activities

A day spent at the beach shoreline is suitable for some relaxation before heading on safari to the legendary Serengeti. Cooling off in the resort’s swimming pool around mid-day and enjoying some marine activities or quad biking are ways to rejuvenate later in the afternoon before enjoying some sunset cocktails or beverages at the ideal place within the resort or around it. The newly opened Sunset Beach Lounge has a spectacular beach lounge area with a bar on the top of the corals, giving it a special atmosphere for enjoying premium cocktails and beverages whereas local and International DJs entertain guests with lively music. There’s also a restaurant set on the beach that serves varied Seafood dishes including a Lobster menu.

Fly to Central Serengeti for a Wildlife Safari Experience

Daily flights to Serengeti National Park offer the ideal option to go on safari after your refreshing stay in Zanzibar Island. Staying at the Central Serengeti area – Seronera Valley offers the best chance for stunning sightseeing, and superb photographic opportunities of the wildlife and birdlife during your days on safari. Stays at Serengeti Simba Lodge gives guests greater chances of witnessing the ‘Serengeti Migration’ since the great migrating plains herds mainly comprised of wildebeests, and zebras among other animals, traverse the area near the lodge twice a year; around April-July and again from October-January when thousands of ungulates maker their breathtaking annual trek through the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem.

Full Day Game Drive in the Serengeti With Picnic Lunch

In addition to the usual morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti; in the Best of Tanzania and Zanzibar itinerary we have included a full day game viewing drive through the Serengeti expanses in search for wildlife action, birdlife and hidden gems that offer scenic sightseeing while bracing natures finest ecosystem at full scale on the second day. The central Serengeti area is renowned for awe-inspiring panoramic views of the vast rolling savannah with a stunning array of large game including: lions, buffalos, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, elephants, bush bucks, zebras, gazelles, topis and wildebeests. It’s rather practical to explore the wilderness on a full day game drive to see as much as possible during your visit to Serengeti, in addition to the morning and afternoon game drives set on the other days on your safari.

Fly to Arusha and transfer to Moshi for Overnight and Sightseeing

After your wildlife safari in Serengeti, safari-goers will fly to Arusha Airport from where they will be met, picked and transferred by road to the Moshi area on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. After an overnight at Marangu Hotel, you will be able to go on a Coffee Tour which takes about 2hrs to complete with approximately 45minutes of walking to and from the coffee farm. The Coffee Tour can easily be combined with a visit to one of the local waterfalls and the Chagga Cultural Tour with sightseeing of the Chagga House & Gallery, Black Smith Site and Itosi Cave.

Arusha Town Sightseeing

Depending on your departure flight, travellers can either be transferred to the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) for their outbound/homebound flight or be driven back to Arusha for a sightseeing tour of the area. Arusha has several open-air markets, a cultural heritage museum, hang-out places and it is a suitable place to spend sometime discovering the local life before embarking on a flight to Zanzibar or onward for a safari. Travellers returning to Zanzibar will be transferred to the Arusha Airport (ARK) for their return flight to Zanzibar INT Airport for an overnight at Stone Town before travelling back home the next day or, enjoy some more leisure days on a shoreline beach resort.
